Jessica Simpson has gone country! I suppose, having flopped on pop radio practically since her debut, she is hoping she can find some kind of success elsewhere.
Interestingly enough, she just might pull it off.
“Come on Over” is probably Jessica’s best song in half a decade. The country genre has allowed her to get back to what she was initially praised for – big vocals and cheesily happy (in a good way) lyrics.
Oddly enough, I can actually see this, her least pop recording EVER, to actually do amazingly well on pop. It has the same crossover appeal we see in the work of Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift.
So props to Jessica on finally hitting her stride and finding music she can at once connect to, sing and sell.
